I truly hope he wins…he’s the best vocalist by far since Chris Daughtry and I’ve been blown away.
Its incredible that it takes a program like American Idol to give amazingly talented artists like David a stage to share their music with the world.
He definitely has my vote, but it just makes me realize how many talented musicians there are out there that some of us will never get to hear.

I love watching David Cook on American Idol. He is different from any other contestant and he is always showing himself in each performance. He is just simply himself and has a great rock voice and knows how to sing each song he chooses without trying to be something he isn’t.

I think that Simon was “right on” when he said that if this is a talent how, then he should win.

David is amazing, adorable, talented and looks so sweet when he’s singing and especially when he did Beatles week the first week at the Top 12, he looked so sexy!!!!

Because of you I have joined the forums, voted, taped every show (which I watch again and again), and wait impatiently for Tuesday. I so look forward to each of your performances. I have bought all of your music on ITunes and I have scoured the net and found much of your pre-idol music as well. What I love about you is your vocal range and power, your song and song arrangement choices, and your ability to make tired songs seem current and relevant, usually singing them better than the originator (including Doxology, cc, and Dolly herself - sorry don’t get mad at me here).

But what makes you stand out up on that American Idol stage is your ability to bring emotional intensity and vulnerability to your performances. That being said, I have to say that your most powerful performances have been sans your guitar. When you are with your guitar, I don’t feel that same emotional connection with the audience and the song (except for Day Tripper which I really enjoyed – and no I didn’t think you were smug).

So I am just writing this in hopes that you will leave the guitar playing to the band and just bring your voice, your emotional intensity, and your sexy mic stand antics to the stage.

P.S. I loved little sparrow – I can’t wait for the studio version (and I am sorry, but I did not like Dolly’s version –sorry again, please don’t get mad at me).

I can only imagine the stress you are under - you’ve got a double wammy there (being an AI contestant and having a sick family member) and stress can really do a number on your body and your brain. I know cause I have problems with that myself.

Relaxation techiniques (including deep breathing from your diaphragm) help immensely (perhaps buy a relaxation cd and put it on your ipod). It is actually physically impossible to get anxious when you are relaxed.

Just want to say that I love your studio version of Innocent and all of your pre-idol music as well. You are all I listen to these days. I tried to make a list of my favorites (of your songs) but there were 17 songs in there and then I kept finding more.

Please don’t let all of the negative comments get to you. For every negative comment, there are probably 50 positive ones. There is no way in H*** that you can please everyone, so you WILL get negative comments from someone. That is just human nature. Many of us feel like you stopped having fun up on that stage. Lastly, I was thinking about song choices and I just have to say this one thing. I know your favorite bands are OLP and Big Wreck, but songs from these bands are not well known and are probably not the best choice for an American Idol competition, and here’s why. 1) Most listeners must hear a song five or six times before they connect and fall in love with it. You have only once and only one and half minutes to sing that song. That does not really leave enough time for the listener to connect and fall in love with an unknown song unless it is just stellar. 2) Listeners listen to the song first and the artist second. If they don’t like the song, they most likely will not listen to it even if they love the artist. Of course sometimes listening to a song over and over and over can change how one feels about a song. But then it’s that listening to it five or six times thing. This is why Simon is always saying song choice, song choice, song choice.

Anyway, I just felt compelled to share my thoughts with you. Please know that you now have a huge fan base and that no matter what happens you are a star!!!
