I would love to know if David is planning on working with Michael Johns after Idol. Would love to see this! The talent this year has been so good, would love to see some of them work together.
David, Michael and Carly ..jason on drums it could be amazing!
Hey David,
I want to know how the whole process of American Idol has changed you, and how it felt everyday.
Also, what was your best moment on American Idol?
*”How do you feel about long-distance relationships? (WInk, wink)”
…and now to the real questions!
*”Are you going to stay solo or form a band?”
*”Will you be recording ‘Hello’ and putting it out as a single, or on your album?”
*Will you please put “Visit the UK” at the top of your to-do list…you know…when you have the time… The Manchester Apollo would be a great venue for you David, you can feel it too, can’t you?!? And the summer festivals would be a perfect fit for DC…”
*This has to be right up there as the most incredible time of your life right now, congratulations, and thank you, I am completely in awe of you - the normal guy who didn’t let expectation or convention hold him back. How does it feel to be an inspiration to people?
*I really enjoy your accoustic performances, might there be an accoustic album in David Cook’s future?
*Are you excited about writing new material, and are you going to use as-yet-unreleased pre-idol material within your first album? (I can’t wait to hear it, you are a true musician and I can’t wait to see you on the Gonzo Brown Couch with Zane Lowe in the not-too-distant…)
I want to know if David will be writing his own material for the new record, or if he will have writers. I also want to know if he is going solo or fronting a band [do the second! do the second!!]. And if he could show us his tats, that would be great. That is all. :]
As an ‘alternative’ artist, you must have had reservations about appearing in such a mainstream forum? Do you worry about the stigma attached to it, or are you just glad of the exposure? (For the record, I think YOUR OWN music - highly accomplished, may I say - speaks for itself and will attract the right audience, but for the time being you are unfortunately labelled and perhaps written-off by your contemporaries. Have you experienced any musical snobbery thus far?)
If you were offered an acting role, and you liked the script, would you dabble your feet in the fickle celluloid waters? (We know you can act, and DANCE - don’t deny it, we’ve all seen your high school footage!! )
I’m from Overland Park, KS so I know what it’s like to grow up in KC. I still can’t believe you saw your first concert at Metcalf South! I literally grew up about a mile or two from there! I was wondering how you’ve adjusted to living in LA and what changes (if any) you’ve had to make?
Also, how did you feel when Simon apologized to you on national TV?!
I have heard a lot of former Idol contestants say that while on the show, they were somewhat existing in a bubble. That is, they didn’t see or hear most of what was being said about about them in the media or by fans. To what extent was that the case with you? Did you read your fan sites while on the show?
I absolutely loved your performace of “The World I Know” Your perfromance was very moving. That is one of my favorite songs. I was wondering if it has special meaning for you? Was there a particular reason that you chose it as your last performance?
You mentioned once that you are good at watching TV. I was just wondering what your favourite show/s are? Are you into “Lost?” (I’m a big “Lost” fan as well as a big DC fan).
How does it feel to have legions of women swooning and drooling over your every move? Do you feel it diminishes you as an artist to be objectified, or are you “ok with it”?
I am an English teacher in Southern California who has tried about 50 times to finish Foucault’s Pendulum. I need a dictionary and a thesaurus to get through most pages. I still have a bookmark on page 237. With a Master’s Degree in Lit, this is quite a conundrum. I noticed that you have been reading this book. What do you think of it? Are you reading it for pure pleasure or because it is tome of knowledge that carries with it a sense of intelligentsia?
Secondly, have you thought about what books you want to take on tour with you? Would you ever consider a Kindle or would that be just too strange? I have recently purchased one, but I haven’t tried it out. It feels alien, somehow.
Third, have you considered your friends at this website putting together a “David’s Reading List” and creating a reading blog/group for your more intelligent and bookish fans? That would keep you happy on the road.
Congrats on going the distance. We were all in your corner. This website is the most literate and thoughtful. You have amazing friends.
David, a rose has great spiritual significance to me 7 my online group of friends, as it does for many Christians (& is similar to the lotus flower symbol for Buddhists & Hindus/Sufis); just wondering if it is special to you since you wore a jacket with one on it at your homecoming in Blue Springs? Peace, light, LOVE to you; Namaste!!
I’m so happy to see you win because I know that you will actually do something with the title “American Idol”. You will be just as hot if not hotter than Daughtry.
My question is:
How do you plan to do things differently than the lost Idol winners out there such as Fantasia, Ruben and Taylor Hicks - you know, the winners who really haven’t done much with their careers?
David, I am amazed at the love your family has exhibited over the course of these last few months while you were on Idol. Now that you are a STAR will you let Andrew Ashlee Simpson you???
do you care that even as i view you as a total hottie and quietly imagine impure things about us i still first and foremost think you are a fantastic rocker ????
First of all, Congrats on winning!!! And for being the only Idol winner AND finalist to never repeat a song!! I was enamored by your originality and musicianship in everyway. as over whelming as life is right now, I can’t imagine you thinking about anything outside idol. However, one thing I would love to know is that now that you have gained fame (and soon to be fortune I’m sure), what is another thing on your life list that you would like to do/have?
“Analog Heart” is the best album I have heard in years. Every lyric, every verse, every chord, every note so perfectly placed. Every song is such a gem I can’t pick a favorite. They are all my favorite. Will we ever be lucky enough to hear or buy your recently recorded pre-idol album, “Optimistic to a Fault” (or whatever you decided to name it)?
David, CONGRATULATIONS! I have to admit I have been a David A. fan for most of the season, however, you brought me over to your side when you sang “Music of the Night” that is when I began to appreciate how incredibly gifted and talented you truly are. However, what I have admired the most about you is how sincere you have been with the other contestants. The way you seemed to take David A. under your wing and support him was truly inspirational and heart warming. Your entire family appears to be the same way. What was your opinion of David A? Did you truly appreciate his talent? Will the two of you ever work together? I felt the two of you performed magically together.
This has been such an amazing journey and I, along with millions of others, voted non-stop for you. My only concern is that you will be under American Idol’s thumb now. Does that concern you? Clearly the judges had the demographics all wrong — so will you fight for what you feel are the best songs for you? Congratulations! and I couldn’t be happier for you. See you in San Jose, CA!!
First a quick comment- I’d made a comment earlier about not liking David’s rendition of “Innocent” and by PURE COINCIDENCE it’s playing as I read this and it turns out… he did a pretty good job.
Here’s my question- What is the most surreal/crazy/wacky thing that has happened to David since this began? (Did a fan send something weird in the mail? Moms offering up their children for marriage? Someone creating a new ice cream flavour in honour of him? Yum… Ice cream….) : )
I love you david cook!!!!! i love to write music and i totally wish i just had the voice to go along with it…. you are my inspiration……..im only 16 but maybe one day i will reach my dream like you did yours<3
First off… congrats, I’ve been rooting for you since I saw you at the auditions, I hoped that you would be the winner!!!
What type of genre do you plan on making your album?? I know it will be rock, but how would you compare it to other artists??
P.S. Please don’t ever change how you are!!!! You seem perfect now, I would never want to see you any different!
Would you try to creat an albom of all the song you preformed on American Idol. That would totaly be cool if you did. I would buy it since I wasn’t able to get all of you song you preformed.
Just keep that in mind.
David, you are such an amazing songwriter and talented artist. I have been trying to “cook” some stuff up myself and I was wondering what inspires you the most and how you stay focused when you’re working on new material? Your songs are incredible and I’m really kinda mad that I didn’t know about you before American Idol. Thanks!!
~Tiffany from FL
Did you ever want to yell at Simon. And who was your absolute favorite constetant? And considering I’m a country girl you are the first rocker I have trully liked.
Don’t worry, my question isn’t that hard, it’s more of a request anyway.
Actually, it’s a plea.
As in “PLEAse consider coming down to orange county, CA, yeah?”
I have one question, though. Will you be releasing your pre-Idol CD, Analog Heart, anytime soon? Would LOVE to download it on iTunes. Trust me, your whole album would be on the Top Songs list. Seriously.
One last thing: Don’t become a LOST American Idol. That would be the worst loss, and I don’t think America could handle it.
I am truly excited for your success and hope you find your niche in the current music industry environment. What do you believe will be the best avenue, genre, solo vs. group, for you to accomplish what you know you are capable of and hope to acheive?
Wishing you the best,
David Rehmsmeyer
Concordia, MO
It’s been well publicized that Idol was something that Andrew wanted to do,, so my question is…at any point during the Idol experience, did you feel any guilt that it was YOU out there, not him?
Stay true to yourself and your music, never become anybody’s puppet.
We love you exactly the way you are!
My best to you and your family, and my prayers are with Adam.
Thanks for making this season of AI truly entertaining. When the Top 12 were announced, who did you think would be your most challenging competitor? Did you foresee the David vs David showdown, or maybe David vs Carly as I had originally predicted?
Do you feel your hair makeover had anything to do with your win? What are your feelings about the “cougar controversy”–the talk that you have a huge fan base of women in an older demographic? (For the record, I personally developed a crush on you the first time I saw you sing–which was “Billie Jean”–I just happened to be flipping channels and caught Idol by accident…)
Bunches of questions Do you still do graphic design, and will you try and design your next album? What was your favorite drink to make? What DM song would you have done if they’d licensed it? What has changed the most about you since you started this, and what has remained the most constant? How did it feel having all of the charities set up in your (and Adam’s) name?
If you could play one roll on Broadway what would be your dream roll? Choose Phantom, Go Phantom. Your performance of Music of the Night gave me chills, so amazing!
Are the rumors about you dating Lacey Schwimmer true?
Also, will you republish Analog Heart for sale? I was lucky enough to download it before it was pulled, but will it become widely available again (ps - I really like it).
David, one of your AI website interviews said that if you had 24 hours to do with whatever you wanted, you would watch the show “24.” Can you tell us more about this? Have you ever watched the show? And if there was a battle between Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer, who would come out on top?
Cookie,
Would you be recording an album under your name or will you form a band? Furthermore, would you be considering to go back with Axium? I know that Chris Daughtry had his own band as well before Idol, but auditioned new members for his album.
Since you are the “Top Dog” winner, will you ever be visiting small intimate venues or do you plan on shooting for the larger stadiums? I love small venue performances… you should chew on that one for a bit.
My ultimate dream would be for you and Daughtry to tour together!!! Think about it.
I love Analog Heart… True “Word Nerd” lyrics… LOL.
I saw your interview on AI Extra tonight and was surprised when you actually justified the comment Simon made earlier in the season that you “lacked charisma.” I know I was not alone in feeling angry on your behalf since that was so completely untrue. If anyone had charisma, it was YOU! Then again, Simon has a habit of being WAY off the mark (like when he said that David A.’s finale performaces delivered a “knockout.” He must have felt pretty silly the next day when you won by 12 million votes!
Anyway, my question is “Why do you feel like there was this evolution or improvement in you since the beginning of AI?” You were always amazingly since the beginning. People who talk about silly things like changing hairstyles or clothing making a difference to a person’s musical success seem quite shallow. You either have talent or you don’t. Do you agree with this at all?
David Cook, congratulations! Great, great job! Almost every lyric of the song you sang in Idol 7 are well done, amazingly brilliant performances, you’re truly The One to beat!
Question out of curiosity: Analog Heart tracks are amaaazing. At this point, would you rather write the songs you will be putting in your first solo album (as an AI) or compile the greatest renditions you had in the show? (Hello, Billie Jean etc.) Or probably do both?
Thumbs up on all your hard work, Mr. DC! -all the way from The Philippines, Asia!
If you were the king of the world (in other words, Nigel Lythgoe), what changes would you make to the show and/or what the experience is like for the performers? I know you probably don’t want to bite the hand that feeds you at this point, but if your answer involves the words “lime green matador pants,” I wouldn’t blame you . . . .
Congratulations from one of your hugest fans. I am so happy that you are our “American Idol”, you make us so proud. You have carried yourself very professionally throughout the entire season. There was never a doubt that you would be the one to represent America with your fabulous voice, your sincerity, and your ability to create songs that are truly a work of art. I am wondering if there are any special places you would like to perform. Any special city or show?

Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha! Tiptoeing through the veritable tulips, are we Cooktards?
Where are your cojones, people? We know what we REALLY want to ask him - so let’s get right down to it, shall we?
We read in Genesis: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave unto his fans.” And in Proverbs: “Whoso findeth a fan findeth a good thing.”
Let us begin…
Do you, David Cook, take us to be your lawfully wedded fans:
To have and to hold, like your heart & string-plucking fingers were made of superglue?
In sore throat or healthy? (fresh lemon & honey in warm water works wonders - with powdered ginger (not fresh), and make sure the water isn’t too warm or it’ll kill the enzymes in the lemon, and - oh, never mind, we have a lifetime ahead of us to discuss such things! Sigh…)
For richer or even richer, but not too rich, in a “I own 10 homes with 89-car garages and I am so out of touch with reality I have forgotten THE FANS WHO MADE ME like Mark Wahlberg in Rock Star which we know you’ve seen” sort of way. Capiche?
To stay far away from all those bad things we’ve seen in biopics - illegal substances, fast women, loose cars, control-freak business managers, 3-judge panels or anything that might hamper your creativity or delay your next album or inhibit your tour schedule or the development of such items partially stated below:
To honor us with ongoing CDs, MP3s, music videos, original music and covers**, heavy tour schedules (in both massive arenas and intimate venues) and the occasional appearance at our birthday parties?
[**Creep rocked! And we need studio versions of ALL AI-interim songs, pronto, k? Includes everything from Living on a Prayer to AIRNIY to Sharp Dressed Man, and whatever it is you were whistling on the way to this interview (yeah, we heard ya). That is, if you so much as hummed from your audition to now and foreva & eva until your gums fall out, we want an extended version on our iPods, got it?]
To remain humble, sweet, considerate, goofy, dorky, eloquent, clever, classy, dapper & dashing (& donner & vixen) and basically that guy we all know and love, on account of we know you so well, having spent so much personal time with you during these many months together?
To always share your voice, your Les Paul-playing awesomeness, your MJ chest bump, your smile, your tears, your analog heart and your shimmy-shimmy-koko-bop?
To pledge your faith in us as we have to you? (that is to say, ahem, yes, we voted our bloody fingers off EVERY WEEK and are likely never to let you forget it! You SO owe us this! Not to mention, we can’t get the chorus of Dream Big out of heads! SO. Owe. Us.)
In short, to celebrate life and love and music and #1 hits that will, as you said, make the hair on the back of your neck stand up? (which will make our neck hair do likewise, on account of we’re like 50 million peas in a pod!)
Forever and ever and ever, oooh darling ’cause you’ll always be our baby?
On this day, as witnessed by your PR peeps and this TV Guide reporter and probably photographers and hair stylists and make-up people, etc.?
David~ Congradulations…….like you haven’t heard that yet! I was born in MO By the way ~ great state! My question is this - I grew up in a small town ~ only about 550-600 at the time. Do you plan on possibly starting (or endorsing, as it would most likely go) some kind of talent - music program for small towns?
We all know that the “stars” travel from large city to large city, which is great. But is it possible to start putting small towns on the map? I am not talking a town of thousands, I am talking a town of a few hundred. The town I grew up in (oregon) was so small, but had some HUGE talent. Unfortunately many people get “stuck” in the small town life and never change- so would you be opposed to helping find some big talent in the small “package”?
We know you can turn Evian into Chateau Petrus, can turn musical pablum (& most women & more men than they’d ever admit) into molten hot lava bombs, and recently leaped the Nokia Theater in a single bound to save a testy 7-year old child, teetering on the edge of the Karaoke Cliffs, about to plunge into a sea of irrelevancy. (too harsh? I think not.)
How do you do it?
Do you have x-ray vision?
Are you going to act all innocent, like you don’t know what I’m talking about, then, when you hear of a musical emergency somewhere, run into the nearest recording studio, rip off your shirt, and create a song to come to our emotional rescue?!
Yeah, I thought so.
While you’re at it, could you record at least a dozen songs & put ‘em up on iTunes? Cause I think all 59 gazillion of your fans are declaring a musical emergency. That’s why we dialed 01, 03 and 05 until our fingers fell off. That critical mass has been reached, or maybe it’s the 12th monkey. Either way, we’re talking dire straits, and not the music group.
Why are you still in this interview? When superheroes learn of a crisis, they take ACTION. Not a time to be all courteous and thoughtful, capiche? Ask Batman or Iron Man or Toby Maguire.
Perhaps a more important question: if I send you a case of bottled water, could you flip that into some Lafite or Latour? How about a nice Chateauneuf du Pape? One of your Cookie jagermeister specials?
Here’s a silly question, but it’s been somewhat of a pipe dream of mine ever since you announced your word-nerd-iness:
“I would love nothing more than to sit and do a crossword with you, impressing you with my highly developed lexicon typically uncharacteristic of a twenty-year-old. Would you care to oblige me?”
And if that wasn’t egotistical and self-serving enough for you, let me ask you a more appropriate question:
“Have you ever considered running the country?”
I mean, you already smashed one competition whereby the American people vote for the winner, so why not attempt to bring about world peace and end poverty and hunger for all with your sultry voice? (Especially your rendition of “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”… let’s just say, then and there, to put it crudely, I wanted to have your babies.)
Seriously, though, what was your favorite song to cover and how did you come about deciding on the fantastic arrangements?
I laughed so hard when you guys met The Love Guru “Pitkha”. Archuleta looked a little worried and out of place. You and face exspretions made me laugh as well. But what I was wonder was did The Love Guru “Pitkha” actually get you when he was trying to shave because I couldn’t stop laughing. Looked like you had a lot of fun, you and David.
smallseal - your karmic waves were felt and appreciated, lending strength to our fingers and opposable thumbs, lo these many Tuesday nights.
Methinks many countries say “we do,” or soon will. No doubt, too, in galaxies far, far away, though DC probably won’t be including them in his concert tours. This year, at least.
David,
How does it feel to know that a 40 year old mother of two camped out with a Diet Coke, some Goldfish, a cell phone and a land line and voted with both hands the entire four hours?
I’m sorry, I can’t help myself. I am something of a tattoo enthusiast and I would like to reinforce the questions - how many do you have and what are they?
Also, what is your personal favorite song?
Mine happens to be “November Rain” by Guns n’ Roses, and I think you could do an impeccable cover of that song.
First of all, I want to say thank you for everything.
Your singing is beautiful and has inspired me to some extent.
As for my questions…
Besides pursuing your dream as a musician and singer, are there any other dreams or goals that you hope to accomplish ?
Have you ever considered using your influence to better the world or increase awareness of certain issues?
For example, give inspirational speeches about issues such as poverty, global warming, etc.
There’s no doubt that you are a romantic. To suceed you must first love what you do. However, what is the inspiration behind the music? Your voice and style is, what I feel, what the American youths (or us young at heart) need to experience. You are gutsy and a presents to be reconned with. From the moment you took the stage, in my opinion, you took the title. They ALL just needed to listen. Congratulations! MWAH!
Now that you are an official, honest-to-God ROCKSTAR, you’ve been thrust into the limelight and will be watched by millions (no pressure). In such a case, would you rather be absolutely ridiculous or ridiculously boring?
Inspired by the movie Walk the Line, where record producer Sam Phillips says to Johnny Cash:
“If you was hit by a truck and you was lying out there in that gutter dying, and you had time to sing *one* song. Huh? One song that people would remember before you’re dirt. One song that would let God know how you felt about your time here on Earth. One song that would sum you up….”
1) Looking back, is there anything about any of your performances this season that you would change or that you wish had gone differently?
2) If you were a judge on American Idol, what would your critiques focus on? What do you think are the types of things that are most helpful for contestants to hear from the judges?
3) What do you think will be the biggest challenge for you in the months ahead?
4) Here’s a chance to revisit a question you were asked a while back: You’re the front man of your dream band. Who’s behind you?
First I want to Congratulate you on your win but I knew you were going to be crowned the next American Idol because you are a great performer and had so many loyal fans.
My questions are:
Were you aware of this site and all your loyal fans on here and how much you touched each and every one of us throughout this whole competition?
Also What was your most memorial moment on American Idol?
Don’t change a thing David we love you the way you are.
Now that you are destined for fame and fortune always stay loyal to all your fans because I know we all will stay loyal to you year after year throughout your whole career.
Hi David,
Congratulations and I couldn’t be more happy for you. Thank you for all of the music and gifts the last few months. . I wish you all the best for the future.
Do you plan to remaster and re-release Analog Heart? What about the second album which was almost completed before AI… Will it be released?
I would also love to ask you, where do you see yourself in 10 years? 20? What kind of artist do you want to be?
I know your music will evolve as you go through life, and I’m looking forward to the evolution. So I would never say “don’t change”…but look forward to seeing the truth that you discover on your journey through life.
Congratulations David - I never doubted your victory. I live in Marbella Spain and I think you are amazing. Will you be touring internationally as well as Nationally. You have so many fans in Europe. Will you be forming a band or going solo. Which ever way I look forward in anticipation to purchasing your releases. Good luck David Cook. I love your voice and your music.
* Why, why, WHY, were you not already a superstar before Idol? I just can’t understand. What do you think was missing? Or is the music system terribly flawed?
* People love your music and your performances. But what is making your fans so invested in you is that you and your performances let them see who you are, and they love that person. You came across as goofy, articulate, smart, sensitive, funny, compassionate, and real (apart from obviously ridiculously talented). People voted not just for your music, but also for YOU as a person. What are your thoughts on that?
* I was forced to download your pre-Idol and also Idol music for free (iTunes downloads were for the US only). But I want to repay you for your awesomeness. How can I do that?
* We think it’s not right that they show AI to us in other countries, forcing us all to fall in love with you (& the other Idols), and then does not bring you over for the tour. That’s discrimination pure and simple and could create international diplomatic tensions. Will you do something about it? One concert per country will do. London first, thanks (in the process, all the Idols could have some international fun & a great cultural experience!)
* How do you keep your cool with obnoxious interviewers? (I think you know what I’m referring to…)
Congrats, you deserve it! I am a graphic designer and I just wanted to say that if you ever have any spare time (haha) or want to wow the world even more (if possible) by doing a little design again, we have a spot reserved just for you at our design studio! Seriously. Also, I just have to ask even though I hate this kind of question, but it is no surprise that the ladies are Cook fans, for a number of reasons, but what kind of girl are YOU a fan of?
If needed, would you be willing to leave your label if the AI machine wants you to make an album that does not reflect your personal style and/or preferences?
What was it like working with the Rickey and the American Idol Band - the drummer looked like he was having a lot of fun doing your songs? And are you really left handed, if you are did you find it a help (right brain) vs a hinderence (klutz) on your journey .
Congratulations, David! You totally deserve all of the admiration and devotion your fans have been bestowing upon you.
Question: Now that you are embarking on this incredible journey in the spotlight, do you have any concerns about how becoming a celebrity might change you as a person?
Also, what is the first thing you want to splurge on?
We’ve witnessed you wearing your heart on your sleeve more than just a little bit, so tell us, honestly, throughout this journey and the amazing accolades you received after so many of your performances, did you ever think back to some of the women who’ve broken your heart in the past, and wonder what they’re thinking now?
I don’t know if I’ve seen this or not or maybe just forgotten it - among all the other things I have locked to memory - How did you learn to play guitar - are you self taught or did you take lessons…?
Favorite Movie?
Favorite Book?
Favorite Color?
Older Women? (kidding)
Have you ever been to Japan?
Are you interested in Japan?
Do you know any Japanese words?
I wish someday you will have a great rock show in Japan (soon)!!
Your voice and every performance gave tremendous emotional support to me.
I want to tell you “thank you” in Japanese, “Arigato”.
David, how about joining Mensa? Become an actual card-carrying smarty-pants Word Nerd with us! Of course, I’m perfectly willing to help you get in - where to take the test, blahblahblah. And then we could go to one of the local chapter’s monthly meetings (in TEXAS!). Ours are at the COORS BREWERY Hospitality Room. Yes, free beer at the meetings! Bring your own snacks. Different speakers monthly. Would you like to be a speaker? Love you more than you’ll ever know, Cook.
David, first I’d like to say a big CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS. You are the greatest. I would like to know if there is a chance you’ll make an album with the songs from AI, especially the songs that weren’t available in the studio versions. And if, nope I’m sorry, when you go on tour, is there a chance that you could book a south Louisiana show? Just curious…….
Will you ever think of coming to Malaysia? I’m from Malaysia and I was so totally happy for you when you won! I knew you would win from the start, and you really actually got me at “Hello” because that was the first episode of AI I watched (other than some of the auditions). I would love it if you came here!
David - First of all your Word Nerds on the Idol Boards want to say thank you for the amazing journey - we love you and we are extremely proud of you. Thank you for wearing our dog tags, you have no idea how much that meant to us. It made us feel a connection to you that nobody else has. My question is - what is your reaction to all the gifts and letters you have received while on the show? Love you! ~Word Nerd #188
First of all, congratulations on your well deserved win!!!
I heard you say that one of your proudest, if not “the” proudest moment in your life was when you graduated from college. If I understood correctly, your Major was “Graphic Design”. My question is; what inspired you to choose that path?
My second question would be; I noticed that you were wearing a specific choker (necklace) when you performed. Was this a gift from someone and does it have a special meaning for you?
Did you have doubts on the night of the Finally that you were not going to win? The judges were pretty hard on you the night before and that must of lowered some confidence. Also, when you heard you won, were you really shocked? Surprised? What were you feeling?
OMG, I love it that the Japanese, the politest culture on Earth, are thanking Davidn Cook. Now that ROCKS! Arigato Arare, Arigato.
Anyway, on with some questions:
1. Did you know there are literary action figures: Shakespeare, Wilde, Austen? The quill pens are choking hazzards.
2. Word you hate?
3.What did your mom do right?
4. Prince rocked Coachella and covered Radiohead’s “Creep” (positvely altering a few words), Sarah McLachlin’s “Angel” and The Beatles’ “Come Together”. Any chance the two of you might duet for one of those, Little Red Corvette, or Billie Jean?
5. Oh, so much pressure to be smart. What is something stupid you would like to do?
6. Ever think of mentoring kids? Storytime in a hospital, little league, literacy campaign.
David,
You are such an inspiration to me and I feel connected to you like no one I have ever seen previously from a far. I am wondering if the connection is the love of the Lord in your heart? I just feel that when I look in your eyes, I see a love for something beyond human.
You are a beautiful person - inside and out - thank you for giving us all a hero.
God Bless you and your future success.

You’ve been always been a big hit to all the ladies across the globe, how do you think they’d all react when you finally get into a real relationship knowing they’ve all enjoyed you being single for the entire season? Do you think it will make a difference?
Never having traveled to the far reaches of this country from my native homeland of Kansas City, I would love to know how you would compare the people and atmosphere of California with Kansas City…thus leading to another question: would you keep a house in Kansas City just to come back home and somewhat return to normalcy?
You said you like the British sense of humour, do you have any particular British stand up comics you like?
When touring the UK (hopefully soon) you might find our crossword puzzels a bit challenging as we spell some words differently - would you like to have an intensive programme (see!) on British spelling from me
David,, while I was watching you covering the Hello and Billie jean,,I thought how it would be nice and I really hoped you do it someday..George Micheals Careless Whisper,,This is a wonderful classic and you can ROck it!
First of all congrats on your big and amazing win!
So i heard that your a word nerd ,and i was wondering if you could tell me some words that mean a lot to you?
Thanks.
Yana.
Hey David!!!! first of all, CONGRATULATIONS ON WINNING AMERICAN IDOL!!! you worked beyond insanely hard and you are phenomenally talented and gifted, you more than deserved to win. my first question is: Where do you get the inspiration for your lyrics from? all the songs on Analog Heart are just incredible, the lyrics are beyond amazing!!! and so is the whole album!!! my second question is: Would you play a show in North Dakota? i know your insanely busy right now, but Daughtry and Carrie Underwood have played at the State Fair here in Minot so i was just wondering if that’s something you would consider doing sometime cuz that would just be so AWESOME!!!! congrats again on winning, you more than deserved it!! and i hope you have a very long, extremely successful career and i will buy all of your phenomenal albums like 20 times each!!! Good Luck!!!!!
You’ve said you were working on an album before auditioning for Idol. Do you think you will record some of those songs for your post-Idol album? Also, will Analog Heart be available again?
Congratulations on winning! I never paid this much attention to a TV show before! I hope that the record company gives you freedom to write your own songs–I think you’re a brilliant songwriter.
David,
Now that you’re sure to be a super successful musician….do you plan on permanently living some place like Los Angeles or New York? Or do you think you’ll live back in the Midwest part of the time?
Ah, David… I am so enamored with you and the way you were able to stay true to yourself all season, and I adore the way you went against the grain with “The World I Know” in the finale. While I means you cost me another buck on Itunes, you are more than worth it.
I am so impressed with how you are handling yourself. You seem so at ease, and you are obviously having fun with this.
So, off the top of your head -
5 words to describe yourself.
PS - thanks for “Straight Ahead” on Analog Heart. Well thanks for all of Analog Heart, but “Straight Ahead” has one of my favorite lyrics of all time.
What was the significance of the four fingers you flashed to the side of the stage finale night? What surprised you most about your whole Idol experience? How could you have not been discovered before this…Analog Heart is unbelievable?
Do you really love latin (the language)? Looking back at your audition, don’t you think you called it pretty well when asked why your were the American Idol and you replied “I’m pretty versatile musically and I like to think I’m a personable guy?”
Great job, David! Two things. You’ve been in bands, then moved on to solo efforts. Do you see yourself now as a solo artist going forward, or does being in a band still hold interest for you? I’m sure the future is wide open, but just wondering your preference. Second. I know things have been a whirlwind for the past few months, but did you get any quiet moments in this AI tsunami to jot down lyrics/thoughts for new songs? Best of luck to you!
I was at your homecoming performance in downtown KC. You were amazingly sweet. I wondered what you thought of being man-handled after the concert by the crowd? I’m sure it has happened a lot since then & is only the beginning.
With somewhat sudden fame, Do you think you will miss being “just David”.
Analog Heart is such a great album (loved the Axium stuff as well) and hope it becomes available again. What is going to happen to the unreleased album? Will you use songs off of it for the next one or will it somehow be released? (Please?) At the end of the finale you turned to the right and held up four fingers - some kind of gang sign? What’s the deal?
This 36 year old Mom of two voted her fingers off for ya each week. So glad you claimed the prize and can’t wait to see you on the AI tour (something I never would have gone to before). Looking forward even more to a future solo tour! DCFTMFW!
One question that has been on my mind, is if David is a cat person or dog person.
Or I would ask, since his explosion of popularity, what is the last movie he has seen in theatres, not counting the Love Guru? You can usually base ones amount free-time off of the last movie they have seen.
I so appreciate your talent and musicianship, the result of many years of dedicated practice, performance, and hard work. The solid foundation you built as a musician and a performer, coupled with your authenticy as a person, will establish you as an artist for the ages.
Looking back at your journey as a musician and performer, what do you feel is the most important element that has contributed to your success?
D. C.,
Are you any close to finding an inspiration for writing a new love song hopefully for your upcoming album?
I think you are a great singer, songwriter, guitarist and performer, and you definitely deserved to win! Congrats and keep on rockin’!
We’ve seen you evolve so much since your first performance of “Happy together” until today. If you could go back and talk to that guy, what would you say to him, what advise would you give him?
thank you and congratulation.
Melanie (Montreal,Qc)
I voted for you all through the show, David, and I’m so glad you won. I’m a 78 year old widow, so it’s not just the younger people who appreciate your talent. I am sure you will soon be making millions of dollars and wonder how you plan on spending the first one? I know you will be sharing with your close family, but what is the highest on your wish list?
WHY ARE YOU SO AMAZING???????????????????? WHY!
dc your my idol
i hope to one day meet you, only problem is that i live in canada! please stop by here sometime:) im your biggest fan
best of luck with everything
I heard you had a follow up album to “Analog Heart” finished before you went on American Idol. What’s going to happen to those songs? I, along with all your other fans, would LOVE to hear them. And congrats on the win!
how does it feel? half the female beings in america are in love with you. you’ve won american idol. you are now the most famous “word nerd” in the world. DUDE! how does it feel to be as awesome as you are? can you even put it into words???
Who the hell broke your heart that you were able to write about 10 songs about it for Analog Heart? Is it just one girl or were there there 10 of them?
Heard you recorded a second album just before AI. When will it be released? Or will it ever be released now that you are under contract with the powers that be (19E/Clive or whoever it is)? I heard a sample of Optimistic To A Fault and I’m looking forward to the full length studio recording.
How do you feel about the 301 reasons to vote for David Cook? Have you read all of them?
When you go on tour, I would suggest that you blog about it. You’re a word nerd, I’m sure you can slap together a few paragraphs in five minutes or less. Your fans are gonna love it!
Hey David,
What inspired you to want to become a musician? was it the fame and the fortune? Or is it knowing that maybe one of your future songs will inspire someone somewhere to want to follow their dreams too?Because I know people like you who strive for their goals have made me want to do that as well. Has winning Idol completed your dream of becoming a star? Or is it just the beginning?
Good luck on your tour and album I hope to be seeing you in August in Albany! Good luck in all you do, just “Dream Big” and I know you will get there, wherever your heart takes you. Thanks for reading.
Sarah
1. Who inspired you to first play guitar? Did you take any lessons or did you learn all by yourself? I’ve been wondering for some time now because you got the skills of playing it.
2. Are there any other instruments that you play?
3. Since you are planning on putting an album soon, will you go solo or will you be with a band just like Daughtry?
4. What was the most memorable concert/gig you had when you were in Tulsa before Idol?
5. How do you come up with your lyrics to a song? Is it based from experience or just random thoughts that go through your mind? By the way, you are a good in writing songs, just wanted you to know
6. What was the craziest thing that had happened during the behind-the-scenes action on AI?
7. So far, what’s the craziest thing a fan has ever done to you?
Last but not the least…
Will you stop by in the Philippines soon? You have a HUGE fanbase here. You have no idea! I just want to share that after you did “Always Be My Baby”, your song was in demand on the radio and people who didn’t even pay close attention to the show appreciated it and got to know you. It’s pretty crazy but heck, we love you!
Hello David and Congrats!
I am so proud of you. You are the new musician I have been searching for this year. Your music is inspiring and thoughtful. Having been a Switchfoot fan since I was 11(that is almost nine years) I am impressed my your cover of Dare You to Move.
My question is: Who you would like to go on tour with when you are done with the idols tour and start to doing your own stuff?
I have no doubt you will be one of the most successful idols. I am glad you won because it shows that even the nerds can win. You have given me hope that the nice guys never finish last.
I would like to know if David Cook misses being a part of Axium? I would also like to know, are there any plans for an Axium reunion? Sounds like a good project to me, maybe a song on one of his future albums with his old buddies?
Congrats! I’ve never voted for anyone on AI before, but I was a woman-on-a-mission last Tuesday night! I was compelled to do my small part to help you reach your goal. I was on the phones, and computer (2 different sites) until 4AM and managed to get in 1230 votes. I wanted to continue, but the sites stopped accepting votes.
Can’t wait for everything you put out there! Will be buying anything that says David Cook on it!
Your phenomenal talent and superb sexiness have turned this grown woman into a fangirl, and I wasn’t even one as a teen! Honey you are HOT, and the fact that you seem oblivious to the effect you’re having on millions of woman all over the world, makes you even HOTTER…if that’s possible! And when you sing, you give me goose bumps. I swear, it’s akin to a religious experience; transporting!
We spend hours on forum boards heralding your many irresistible attributes! And believe me we don’t miss anything! We’ve dedicating lengthy threads to our favorites which are your lips, eyes, and tummy; not necessarily in that order! You even have the cutest ears! The “Guitar Hero” commercial is currently be heralded as a gift from the heavens! We all just knew that you had great legs under those jeans!
I know you’re probably blushing and shaking your head at this, and asking yourself, ‘Where, oh where, were all these adoring females this time last year, when I had time to pursue the limitless benefits that present with such adoration?’ Life is so ironic, yes?
Well, I digress…what WAS the true purpose of this post? Oh, yes, now I remember! Questions? I have about a million, but I’ll narrow them down to two:
How did you decide on The Analog Heart title? Love all the songs, by the way! For me, they’re all about the lyrics! You’re quite the rock poet! As one of your many admirers, I’d like to personally torture the woman who caused you the pain and confusion evident in the lyrics! Bamboo shoots under her nails maybe?!
What is your dating age range? Do you prefer women who are older than you, who are more apt to challenge you mentally and make you a happier, more satisfied man, or younger women who tend to be shallow and inexperienced, you know the kind, they can only do the “easy” crosswords; leaving you wanting something deeper? LOL, I guess it’s clear which group I belong to!
I wanted to say Congratulations! and Thank you for bringing your fans on this amazing journey with you. It’s been quite a ride. I look forward to continuing the journey into the next phase of your career. My question is:
Will Analog Heart be re-released any time soon? And what about your un-released album? Will we ever get to hear it?
Hi David. Congrats! You’re amazing. I would like to ask:
1.) When did you first sing? Have you been singing since you were little? Can you say you’ve been “singing since you can remember”? When did you first realize you loved to sing?
2.) Have you had a first love?
3.) Do you have a favorite band/artist? (like Switchfoot/U2/ZZ Tod, etc.)
4.) What can you say about the “cougars for cook” controversy?
David, what do you think your brother Andrew feels about you winning AI? We know you didn’t plan to audition in the first place, but it left us thinking that your brother is probably torn by the fact that you won AI when it was he planning to join in the first place. Do you think it would create misunderstandings between the two of you?
Dear Mr. Cook,
I’m a teacher, so I am absolutely thrilled that a college graduate with strong family values won American Idol! I hope you and David Archuleta represent the future of cultural icons in our country; our kids need role models like you. My question is, do you think your mom would be willing to communicate with me (via email, phone, US mail, smoke signals; I’ll take what I can get) to give me some parenting advice that I could pass along to the parents of my students? You are every teacher’s dream, and I want your mom to share her wisdom for raising such a hard-working, generous young man. I must admit I have a 4 year old son myself, and I wouldn’t mind getting some tips from a mom who is clearly amazing!
Thank you for your time,
Sheila Rose
Are you happy that the record company are already partnering you with other songwriters, before they’ve even let you have a shot at doing this yourself, on your own terms? Sure, in a few years you might relish other creative input (I really admire musicians who evolve their sound with each new record, and who are always open to new ideas that collaborators can bring to the table), but for right now I’m sure you’ve got a ton of original material and want to do this yourself, no?
On the whole ‘Cougars 4 Cook’ thing, doesn’t that totally gross you out?!?! I know it does me… *shivers* Eeeeewwwww! DC, I think they think you’re the nice, respectable man, when we all know you’re just a regular dude with a roving eye for the much younger, hotter lady!! Please don’t let the cougars get you, the whole thing would be so Kim Bauer…and we know how that turned out…Worst.Storyline.Ever.
Why on earth do all these musically illiterate people in the media keep brandishing you with the ‘emo’ tag?! Doesn’t it irritate you that they clearly have such little idea of your artistic identity?
It was clear that since week 2 and the whole “no charisma” debacle where you answered Simon back and he took it like a little girl, that you made a conscious decision to say nothing but “Thank you” in response to the judges comments. Do you think if you had said more in your ‘post-game interviews’ if-you-will, i.e. if you had said what you were actually thinking and feeling, that the audience wouldn’t have got behind you? Personally, I was dying to hear you say “whatever dude” and show some of the sass that we know you have. I don’t know if it was a strategy or you honestly were just happy with any critique they gave you, but you took it well and I applaude you for that. Best of luck in your career, David, may it be long and prosperous! xx
You might like to know that secretly VoteForTheWorst really actually like you, they pretend not to of course, it’s their mission to find fault with everyone, but reading your thread on there, they have love for the DC! What are your thoughts on VFTW and similar derogatory outlets? It’s probably true that before you became involved with Idol, you shared their opinion about the show’s tackiness?
You have lots of UK fans DC, lots. We would like to know who your favourite current british musical act is, and who are your favourites from the past? Do you own any records from recent british bands?
You gotta love Muse, right? Cold War Kids? Guillemots? Biffy Clyro? Elbow? I won’t go on…this part of the question wouldn’t get printed in TVGuide nehoo!
I have to agree with NuckinFuts (wow, never foresaw myself typing that - ever!), not all younger women are shallow and inexperienced. I happen to be a crossword champion, not to mention a psychology major with a basis in neuroscience, and I’m at the ripe young age of twenty. (And I happen to be attractive as well…) So, my question is:
Watching you every week with the bracelet for Lindsay Rose was really heartwarming (especially for those of us in the Tampa area, who watched Charley Belcher try not to man-crush on you to the exclusion of other contestants every week). As a cancer survivor, it also touched me personally to see that kind of silent but visible support for someone you’d never met; it felt like you were retroactively supporting me and everyone else whose life had been affected. Further, many of your fans were impressed with the classy way you AND your family handled the media with respect to your brother’s illness. The thoughful tone with which you addressed the matter on Larry King Live was beautiful, too. Now that you’ve got the attention of several million more people than you used to, will you be working to bring awareness to cancer research?
Hey David,
I would like to just say that I am only fourteen and I still love your music. I was wondering if you already had albums out why did you audition for American Idol? Not that its a bad thing, because I found your albums after I saw you on TV, but still why?
OH! and another thing…
PLEASE MAKE ROOM FOR A VISIT TO THE BIG APPLE!! <<<>>> I’m 14, so please make room. It would be like, a dream if you even came to NY.
With all the celebrity thrust upon you so suddenly, what will you do to stay grounded and humble?
So many stars lose themselves and forget who they are. Stay true to yourself - that’s what got you to where you are now. You are such a nice and genuine person.
Do you know if you will be re-releasing Analog Heart on a new label, or with any changes? Will songs from Analog Heart or the new album you were working on be incorporated into your post-Idol records? Your songrwriting is great, can’t wait to hear more.
And thanks for the amazing entertainment and excitement over the past few months. It was so much fun to see everyone’s — especially your — growth over the course of the show.
How do you feel about having your own bio page on TVGuide.com with a title of - David Cook [celebrity]
I would love to ask David Cook if he thought Andrew Lloyd Webber was flirting with him during ALW week.
I would love to know if David is planning on working with Michael Johns after Idol. Would love to see this! The talent this year has been so good, would love to see some of them work together.
David, Michael and Carly ..jason on drums it could be amazing!
Thanks David !
Are you aware of the huge international fanbase you have accumilated?
Hey David,
I want to know how the whole process of American Idol has changed you, and how it felt everyday.
“You’ve single-handedly put cowboy boots back on the fashion map, any plans to design your own/start your own label?”
If you hadn’t auditioned for American Idol, how do you think your life would be like now?
When will your first album come out? I’m waiting to run out and buy it !
What thoughts were racing through your head before they announced who the next american idol was?
Did you believe it could be you?
How did you make the song ” Hello” your own version?
I want to know if David will be writing his own material for the new record, or if he will have writers. I also want to know if he is going solo or fronting a band [do the second! do the second!!]. And if he could show us his tats, that would be great. That is all. :]
David, I absolutely need to know if your higher power is God and that He is Your #1 FAN? I think He was there for YOU!!
I think you pull off a hat well and should wear more. Discuss.
Where do you go online?
What is the most valuble lesson you have learned from your time spent on American Idol?
What is your favourite TV show of all time? Are you a DVD Boxset man? I predict you is a comedy fan??
On the subject, dude, Wahlberg’s ‘Rockstar’ is your favourite movie? Reeeally..?!
David, will any of your unreleased pre-Idol music be on your first album?
Republican or Democrat?
If you were offered an acting role, and you liked the script, would you dabble your feet in the fickle celluloid waters? (We know you can act, and DANCE - don’t deny it, we’ve all seen your high school footage!!
)
With which artist(s) would you like to work?
Word Nerds have to like books — what are your favorites?
Any plans to relocate to LA?
Congrats, Cook!
I would like to know what the red wrist band he wore every week signifies or supports.
My question is:
I was wondering if you had any plans to endorse Kleenex® because I have never cried more in my life then I did this past season of American Idol!
Congrats on all your success.
Bonnie Shockey
In running the risk of being “that girl”
…wanna grab dinner sometime?
HA HA HA
No, but really.
David,
Where do you hope to see yourself this time next year when you’ll be returning to AI’s finale show as the reigning American Idol?
I personally hope that I will have your CD and tickets to your headlining show!! Cannot wait….
Are you coming to the UK? Please say yes and soon!
nix
xx
Hi David,
Congratulations! What inspires you when you write music? Love the CD Analog Heart.
David, you don’t know me at all, but love you just the same The Kansas City (Indep) area can’t wait for your return!
* How does it feel to know, your travels will take your farther from home, but expand to places you’ve only dreamed of?
do you care that even as i view you as a total hottie and quietly imagine impure things about us i still first and foremost think you are a fantastic rocker ????
Did you ever have pets growing up? If so, what are their names, how many pets?
Congrats on winning, your music is amazing!
I would like to ask David to keep it real and keep they heads ring’n.
What kind of legacy do you think you have left on American Idol? How do you feel you are similar and different from previous winners?
Other than your hometown, what cities are you the most excited about going to on the AI: Live! tour?
What is your favorite type of vaction (example: beach, amusement park, camping trip)?
What was your favorite birthday present of all time?
David, CONGRATULATIONS! I have to admit I have been a David A. fan for most of the season, however, you brought me over to your side when you sang “Music of the Night” that is when I began to appreciate how incredibly gifted and talented you truly are. However, what I have admired the most about you is how sincere you have been with the other contestants. The way you seemed to take David A. under your wing and support him was truly inspirational and heart warming. Your entire family appears to be the same way. What was your opinion of David A? Did you truly appreciate his talent? Will the two of you ever work together? I felt the two of you performed magically together.
What song(s) are you planning on singing during the American Idol tour?
Are you planning on putting any of your AI cover songs (i.e. “Always Be My Baby” and “Hello”) on your first album?
Since you’re a self-proclaimed word nerd, what is your favorite word?
Wondering:
What has been your biggest challenge to overcome?
I love you david cook!!!!! i love to write music and i totally wish i just had the voice to go along with it…. you are my inspiration……..im only 16 but maybe one day i will reach my dream like you did yours<3
Your actually hella amazing and sexxxy. Will you ever come to Vancouver, BC?
First off, heartfelt congratulations on your win! Looking back over the season, it was like attending an amazing David Cook concert. Thank you!
I would like to know how you came to choose “Little Sparrow”. I loved that performance; truly beautiful.
Had you heard the song before?
Did you ever want to yell at Simon. And who was your absolute favorite constetant? And considering I’m a country girl you are the first rocker I have trully liked.
Did you write Time of My Life because it sounded as thought it was made for you and I loved it. You also did awsome on hero
Will you keep roots in Tulsa?
Hey David!
Would you ever tackle a Pink Floyd song? I think you should remake “Fat Old Sun”
David,
I am truly excited for your success and hope you find your niche in the current music industry environment. What do you believe will be the best avenue, genre, solo vs. group, for you to accomplish what you know you are capable of and hope to acheive?
Wishing you the best,
David Rehmsmeyer
Concordia, MO
Two parter: Do you see yourself pursuing a career as a solo artist or as the lead of a band? If in a band, who would be your dream band members?
Hi David!
XOXO,
Julie, Tampa FL
Congratulations David,
Thanks for making this season of AI truly entertaining. When the Top 12 were announced, who did you think would be your most challenging competitor? Did you foresee the David vs David showdown, or maybe David vs Carly as I had originally predicted?
David,
Congratulations!
If you could travel and perform anywhere in the world, (which right now seems like a high possibility) where would you go and why?
Best of luck in the future,
Jennifer M.
Atlanta, GA
Do you feel your hair makeover had anything to do with your win? What are your feelings about the “cougar controversy”–the talk that you have a huge fan base of women in an older demographic? (For the record, I personally developed a crush on you the first time I saw you sing–which was “Billie Jean”–I just happened to be flipping channels and caught Idol by accident…)
Bunches of questions
Do you still do graphic design, and will you try and design your next album?
In addition to my previous message. Congratulations on the win, you deserved every single bit of it! Can’t wait for the album!
We have heard a lot about your Mom and Andrew throughout your AI experience. What did your Dad initially think and what does he think now?
David, one of your AI website interviews said that if you had 24 hours to do with whatever you wanted, you would watch the show “24.” Can you tell us more about this? Have you ever watched the show? And if there was a battle between Chuck Norris and Jack Bauer, who would come out on top?
Where does your little brother fit in as you/AI write the script called your future? It’s all his fault, you know?
Why do you always wear that scarf/handkerchief in your back pocket?
Cookie,
Would you be recording an album under your name or will you form a band?
Sorry, meant to say “You were always amazingly talented since the beginning.”
What is your songwriting process? Do you scribble things on any piece of paper you can find or do you actually sit down and plan to write?
Also, just how many tattoos do you have? Inquiring minds want to know.
Hope to see you in New Orleans one day.
If you were the king of the world (in other words, Nigel Lythgoe), what changes would you make to the show and/or what the experience is like for the performers? I know you probably don’t want to bite the hand that feeds you at this point, but if your answer involves the words “lime green matador pants,” I wouldn’t blame you . . . .
What does the bracelet say that you wear and why do you wear it in the middle of your hand instead of on your wrist?
In the future, what artist would you like to collaborate with?
Congratulations from one of your hugest fans. I am so happy that you are our “American Idol”, you make us so proud. You have carried yourself very professionally throughout the entire season. There was never a doubt that you would be the one to represent America with your fabulous voice, your sincerity, and your ability to create songs that are truly a work of art. I am wondering if there are any special places you would like to perform. Any special city or show?
Congratulations from one of your hugest fans. I am so happy that you are our “American Idol”, you make us so proud. You have carried yourself very professionally throughout the entire season. There was never a doubt that you would be the one to represent America with your fabulous voice, your sincerity, and your ability to create songs that are truly a work of art. I am wondering if there are any special places where you would like to perform, any dreams?
Are you going to have a tour stop in Colorado one day? (The Idol Tour is totally bypassing us)
Do you think that one reason you’re so creative is because you’re left-handed?
Well, do you?
Cause WE DO.
Who brought the rings?!
hear hear Ann. Canada (though we couldn’t vote but yet sent powerful karma waves of positive thoughts down south) also says “we do”
David~ Congradulations…….like you haven’t heard that yet!
Yeah, I have more questions. LOTS of questions…
Can you reveal the source of your super powers?
I want to know if David needs/wants a good bass player ; ) seriously.
David,
First of all, I want to say thank you for everything.
MWAH!
I need to know:
What IS your favorite word of all time?
and…
Now that you are an official, honest-to-God ROCKSTAR, you’ve been thrust into the limelight and will be watched by millions (no pressure).
What song would it be for you, Cookie?
I’m wondering iabout David’s brother, Andrew was it? Is he going to be in your band?
Garrinton
1) Looking back, is there anything about any of your performances this season that you would change or that you wish had gone differently?
2) If you were a judge on American Idol, what would your critiques focus on? What do you think are the types of things that are most helpful for contestants to hear from the judges?
3) What do you think will be the biggest challenge for you in the months ahead?
4) Here’s a chance to revisit a question you were asked a while back: You’re the front man of your dream band. Who’s behind you?
5) What’s your favorite guilty pleasure song?
So I would never say “don’t change”…but look forward to seeing the truth that you discover on your journey through life.
peace and blessings,
Mary
what what the first thing that came to mind when you heard that you are the American Idol?
if you could add a reason, to the 361 reasons to vote for david cook, what would the reason be?
(coz you only danced without underpants on camera for money ONCE?)
Have you met with any record executives regarding your album yet?
I’ve been watching AI7all this season and I knew it! It’s gonna be Cookie!!
Congratulations David!!
(in the process, all the Idols could have some international fun & a great cultural experience!)
London first, thanks
* How do you keep your cool with obnoxious interviewers? (I think you know what I’m referring to…)
David,
Congrats, you deserve it!
Best of Luck!
Have you travelled much before you started on AI? If so, what is your favorite travel destination?
Also, I really think you should tour the UK after your AI tour.
Two questions, actually.
1. Tell us one song you’ve sung this season that you hope to NEVER have to sing again and why.
2. Do you have any plans to make Tulsa your permanent home after all this? Your fans here really miss seeing you.
So when you DO come home, I’ll be happy to cook you dinner. LOL
Congratulations! Tulsa is very proud of you! And I am, too.
If we in the Philippines were just allowed to vote, you could have gotten another 12 million and more.
I consider you to be a MUSICAL ALCHEMIST, turning every old song INTERESTING thus further acknowledging the original music icons.
Now my question is - If Andrew was the one who got in at AI, would you have been a “Stage Brother” to him? hehehe
And my daughter wants to know, who in Hollywood do you have the biggest crush on?
DC freaking rawksssssss!!!!!!!!!!!
what kind of music are you looking to produce in your debut album? you should do that re-take on Billy Jean!
God bless
If needed, would you be willing to leave your label if the AI machine wants you to make an album that does not reflect your personal style and/or preferences?
Congrats, btw.
I’d like to ask David Cook when he’ll be recording an album and what kind of album it will be.
ok David,Ginger or Mary Ann???? OH, you dont rememeber them, forget your so darn YOUNG!!!
Can I hitch a ride with your from Chicago to Columbus on July 19th???I live in Chicago and need to be in Columbus on the 20th, and so do you!!!!
What was it like working with the Rickey and the American Idol Band - the drummer looked like he was having a lot of fun doing your songs? And are you really left handed, if you are did you find it a help (right brain) vs a hinderence (klutz) on your journey .
Left-handed Questioner
hi to kuya Wendell. totally agree with you! i’m from the Philippines too!!
my question is:
David, if Ramiele Malubay or Renaldo Lapuz comes back to the Philippines, can you come too??
You have a lot of fans heeeeere!! ÜÜÜ
please! please! please!
How badly do you want to sleep right now?
Hey I wanted to ask David how he was so original in his songs and will his new album be rock? =)
What is your favorite book???
(kidding)
Hi from Japan!
I’m your Japanese fan.
As a fellow word nerd, i would love to know what your favorite “word” is?
How has this experience changed you??? And wanted to tell you you were my fav from the beginning. Knew you were gonna win.
David,
Will your pre-idol albumn Analog Heart be released? If so, when will be have the pleasure of purchasing it?
We know he’s a word nerd. But is he a sesquipedalian, as well?
will you sing the ‘mrs. cooper song’ on tour?
Totally off the American Idol topic, what is your favorite game played on “The Price is Right”???
Which performance did you enjoy the most?
David, first I’d like to say a big CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS. You are the greatest. I would like to know if there is a chance you’ll make an album with the songs from AI, especially the songs that weren’t available in the studio versions. And if, nope I’m sorry, when you go on tour, is there a chance that you could book a south Louisiana show? Just curious…….
Elizabeth from Hanover, NH wants to know:
David,
Would you ever hang out with a fan (such as myself)??
Thanks…
David Cook! I love youuuu!!!
Ok, here’s the question..
Will you ever think of coming to Malaysia? I’m from Malaysia and I was so totally happy for you when you won! I knew you would win from the start, and you really actually got me at “Hello” because that was the first episode of AI I watched (other than some of the auditions). I would love it if you came here!
Thank you~! ^^
Hi, if David is ever in need of a talented drummer with excellent credenitals…from Missouri, please view BLAKE NELSON on myspace.
Respectfully,
Donna

Hi David,
First of all, congratulations on your well deserved win!!!
Best of luck to you always!
Kathleen
OK, here’s my question for David:
Did you have doubts on the night of the Finally that you were not going to win? The judges were pretty hard on you the night before and that must of lowered some confidence. Also, when you heard you won, were you really shocked? Surprised? What were you feeling?
Best of luck in the future,
Katy
MD from Wisconsin
Do you think your victory has finally allowed AI to shake off its kiddie shoes and graduate to an adult entertainment show?
What’s the most inane question you’ve had to answer since becoming involved in AI? (excluding this one
)
Live long and prosper David Cook!
A South African fan,
eagerly awaiting your first offering as THE American Idol.
On a personal note,
You’ve been always been a big hit to all the ladies across the globe, how do you think they’d all react when you finally get into a real relationship knowing they’ve all enjoyed you being single for the entire season? Do you think it will make a difference?
Best of luck to you Mr. Cook!
Never having traveled to the far reaches of this country from my native homeland of Kansas City, I would love to know how you would compare the people and atmosphere of California with Kansas City…thus leading to another question: would you keep a house in Kansas City just to come back home and somewhat return to normalcy?
Who’s your favourite author?
You said you like the British sense of humour, do you have any particular British stand up comics you like?
When touring the UK (hopefully soon) you might find our crossword puzzels a bit challenging as we spell some words differently - would you like to have an intensive programme (see!) on British spelling from me
Dearest David,
Congratulations!!! We were behind you from the VERY beginning! We are anxiously awaiting your CD!
My question is a simple one. What is your favorite women’s perfume or cologne?
You are the best!
Katie
David,, while I was watching you covering the Hello and Billie jean,,I thought how it would be nice and I really hoped you do it someday..George Micheals Careless Whisper,,This is a wonderful classic and you can ROck it!
Sem
First of all congrats on your big and amazing win!
,and i was wondering if you could tell me some words that mean a lot to you?
So i heard that your a word nerd
Thanks.
David,
I know you were into theatre in high school and you played the hilarious role of Cosmo in Singing in the Rain. I’d love to know:
What is your favorite Broadway show?
What is your dream role?
Would you ever consider crossing over into Broadway, as you’re a fabulous actor as well?
When you hit Tampa for the tour, I’ll make you dinner. I hope you like cute little brunettes with big brown eyes!
For Ann–posted way above—-Well said!
I completely concur !
David,
Now that you’re sure to be a super successful musician….do you plan on permanently living some place like Los Angeles or New York?
DCMFW! Love ya, Cook?
Dear David,
Will you go out to dinner with me? I think you’re fantastic.
Love,
Lacey H.
DCFTMFW!
David; Once you reach the point in your career where you can do whatever you want, what will you try to do with your music and your life?
One question that has been on my mind, is if David is a cat person or dog person.
Or I would ask, since his explosion of popularity, what is the last movie he has seen in theatres, not counting the Love Guru? You can usually base ones amount free-time off of the last movie they have seen.
Ginger or Mary Ann?
I would like to know how quickly he is going to set up an official website so that we can keep track of news about him. I’m thrilled he won!!
Will your album “Analog Heart” be re-released before your AI album is released, and how would you describe the music on “Analog Heart”?
David,
I so appreciate your talent and musicianship, the result of many years of dedicated practice, performance, and hard work. The solid foundation you built as a musician and a performer, coupled with your authenticy as a person, will establish you as an artist for the ages.
Looking back at your journey as a musician and performer, what do you feel is the most important element that has contributed to your success?
Hey David,
Congrats
Just wondering what was the first thing you did after you won American Idol?
Hmm, if I could ask David one question, I would ask if he would come to Cleveland, Ohio when he goes on a solo tour. That would be awesome!
D. C.,
Are you any close to finding an inspiration for writing a new love song hopefully for your upcoming album?
I think you are a great singer, songwriter, guitarist and performer, and you definitely deserved to win! Congrats and keep on rockin’!
We’ve seen you evolve so much since your first performance of “Happy together” until today. If you could go back and talk to that guy, what would you say to him, what advise would you give him?
thank you and congratulation.
Melanie (Montreal,Qc)
You performed with ZZ Top on the finale. Are there any other artists/bands you would love to perform with?
I voted for you all through the show, David, and I’m so glad you won. I’m a 78 year old widow, so it’s not just the younger people who appreciate your talent. I am sure you will soon be making millions of dollars and wonder how you plan on spending the first one? I know you will be sharing with your close family, but what is the highest on your wish list?
Best of luck to you,
A senior from Mesa, AZ
What was your favorite out of all your performances?
What do you feel was your riskiest performance in terms of judges’ feedback?
Any chance we’ll hear some of the music you were about to release before AI? And any chance of an Analog Heart re-release?
I was one of the lucky to get it off Amazon before it was pulled (The Truth and Straight Ahead are my favorites).
David,
There is nothing more I could add, to what has already been said, about how amazingly talented you are.
Congrats on your deserved success!
My question is this,
What keeps you grounded?
first off, You are the first contestant on “Idol” that won that i LOVED since Carrie Underwood!!
my questions are:
1) Did you think you would get this far when you auditioned?
and
2) What was going through your mind when Simon apologized to you right before they announced that you won?
WHY ARE YOU SO AMAZING???????????????????? WHY!

dc your my idol
i hope to one day meet you, only problem is that i live in canada! please stop by here sometime:) im your biggest fan
best of luck with everything
also, do you have any advice to people who will be auditioning for AI, or any other show.
Will you be writing all your own songs on you upcoming and future albums?
I would love to know is David Cook really that perfect he seems to be?
David,
How do you feel about older women? Much older?
Cougars for Cook!!!
My question is: Can I do inappropriately naughty but wonderful things to you?~just kidding~ Unless, of course, the answer is “yes”!
In all seriousness: If you could only watch one movie and one tv show for the rest of your life what would they be and why?
I heard you had a follow up album to “Analog Heart” finished before you went on American Idol. What’s going to happen to those songs? I, along with all your other fans, would LOVE to hear them. And congrats on the win!
ok david,
how does it feel? half the female beings in america are in love with you. you’ve won american idol. you are now the most famous “word nerd” in the world. DUDE! how does it feel to be as awesome as you are? can you even put it into words???
I LOVE YOU DAVID COOK!
OH WAIT I GOT ANOTHER ONE!
does being called cookie bother you? cuz if it does, i’ll stop.
DC ROX MY SOX! (AND MY SHOES)
My husband’s name is David. Should I tell him that I can’t say his name without seeing your face, or should I just quietly let him reap the benefits?
First off, congratulations! I’ve been a huge fan since day one, so I’m excited for you.
But I’d really love to know what your favourite song of all time is, and why?
<3 Jamey; Charleston SC
Ever think you’ll be coming to Canada? Which by that, I mean come to Nova Scotia, I wouldn’t mind if you played in my backyard even.
Favorite and least favorite word?
Ever going to bring back the red in your hair?
David Cook,
When you go on concery byself and where can I see ya?
*************************************
David Cook,
When are you going on concert by yourself and where can I see ya?
*****************************************
David,
WILL YOU MARRY ME DAVID COOK?
I AM SERIOUS!! I WILL MAKE YOU A VERY HAPPY MAN! WE WOULD BE SUPER SUTE TOGETHER TOO. THINK ABOUT IT…
David, what do you think your brother Andrew feels about you winning AI? We know you didn’t plan to audition in the first place, but it left us thinking that your brother is probably torn by the fact that you won AI when it was he planning to join in the first place. Do you think it would create misunderstandings between the two of you?
David, you’re now known as a crossword puzzle freak - do you prefer standard or cryptic?
Dear Mr. Cook,
I’m a teacher, so I am absolutely thrilled that a college graduate with strong family values won American Idol!
Will you be designing your album artwork? I’d love to see more of your work, can’t let that graphic design degree go to waste
Best of luck in your career, David, may it be long and prosperous! xx
Don’t you just love Jim Carrey? What was it like meeting him - did you get much chance to talk to him?
What is the meaning of life?
Why do you refuse to discount luck during this whole process? :p heheheheheheheeeee
Have you ever considered writing, recording, a song in support of our troops? Would you ever do a USO tour?
I have to agree with NuckinFuts (wow, never foresaw myself typing that - ever!), not all younger women are shallow and inexperienced. I happen to be a crossword champion, not to mention a psychology major with a basis in neuroscience, and I’m at the ripe young age of twenty. (And I happen to be attractive as well…) So, my question is:
What does it really take to impress David Cook?
Thanks,
Laila
Remember when that girl asked you out on LIVE TV…
Well I was wondering.
Did you ever go on a date with her?
OH! and another thing…
PLEASE MAKE ROOM FOR A VISIT TO THE BIG APPLE!! <<<>>> I’m 14, so please make room. It would be like, a dream if you even came to NY.
Hi David,
With all the celebrity thrust upon you so suddenly, what will you do to stay grounded and humble?
So many stars lose themselves and forget who they are. Stay true to yourself - that’s what got you to where you are now. You are such a nice and genuine person.
God Bless You!
Betty Kennedy

Hi David,
Do you know if you will be re-releasing Analog Heart on a new label, or with any changes? Will songs from Analog Heart or the new album you were working on be incorporated into your post-Idol records? Your songrwriting is great, can’t wait to hear more.
And thanks for the amazing entertainment and excitement over the past few months. It was so much fun to see everyone’s — especially your — growth over the course of the show.

Question: Are we ever going to get to hear the second album you completed before Idol happened?
Question: Do you listen to classical music?
Que
