David Cook won American Idol and showed the world what he’s made of. Those of us here at the DC Fan Team wanted to take a moment and thank you, our visitors and David’s biggest fans for helping put him over the top. DC may be a Word Nerd, but the DC Fan Team has their own resident Numbers Nerd and he has a few numbers to share.

  • 97 Million - the number of votes cast in the 4 hours following Tuesday’s show - the most in any Idol finale
  • 12 Million - the number votes DC won by
  • 235,699 - the number of pages of this site viewed by you, DC’s fans
  • 96,069 - the number of different times someone thought “Gee, I sure could use some ‘Cook Look’ or a little ‘Analog Heart’ right now…”
  • 51,977 - the number of different people who have checked out this site since March 1
  • 100,000+ - The number of times we’ve been able to stream you David’s pre-idol music. Frankly, the number may be far higher (we streamed 658.8 GB of data in 3 months) but our reporting system just couldn’t keep up with the load!

We think those numbers speak for themselves, but in case you’re still wondering the point - Thank YOU! You have spent this season of Idol diligently searching out information and listening to songs you’d never heard from an artist you’re beginning to love (we read the message boards - don’t act like you don’t love him). Because you have taken the time to give David’s music a chance and then spent your time telling as many other people about the amazing new artist you’d found, David Cook is now America’s Idol. Sure, 19 Entertainment still makes money off him, but it would have been so much sweeter if the ‘American Idol,’ not the fourth-place finisher, had been the biggest-selling artist in 2007. Cook’s potential CD sales could even overtake Daughtry’s. He’s über-talented and can sing ‘Phantom of the Opera’ with as much ease as Phantom Planet. The stylists have exposed his raw sexuality and - surprise! - he’s also a nice guy. The perfect ‘Idol’ package. Today we wanted to honor Andrew Cook for being awesome.  Not only did he convince DC to audition he also tells the world’s funniest story about punching DC in the side of the head.  Everyone should be so lucky to have a little brother like Andrew Cook!

“As we got closer to it, my mom and my little brother were being a little bit more persuasive in trying to get me to audition with him. So at the last minute, I decided to do it. He didn’t make the first cut and we were in the same audition group of four. It was very awkward, like to the point where I turned to him and said, ‘Is this something you want me to do, because if you don’t want me to it, I won’t.’ And his response was, ‘If you don’t, I’ll beat your —.’ So yeah, it’s entirely his and my mother’s fault that I’m here and I’m very grateful for it.”
